This assignment is to do a presentation on a music genre of your choice, in the form of a slide show (PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a series of PDFs). The idea is to present the main musical features and an outline of the history of your chosen genre, along with a link to a representative performance. Choose an artist or group from this music genre, and a video of a live performance or excerpt (5 minutes or less) that you find interesting. Give a brief analysis of the video: any meanings, lyrics, symbols, your own thoughts and opinions, etc.
It should not be just an individual artists biography the presentation should touch on some main features and brief history of the music. Please do not do a major celebrity the idea here is to explore an area of music that you would not encounter in everyday life.
Rubric / checklist:
1. Choose a music genre, artist, and video (of 5 minutes length or less)
2. Provide background on the music genre and the artist (features, outline of history)
3. Provide a link to the video (just one, please!)
4. If the piece of music has words, include some lyrics, translated into English, if necessary
5. Give a brief analysis of the video, music, and lyrics
6. Include a total of 10-12 slides in your presentation
