Your group has the opportunity to develop part of the future sex education curriculum for your local middle school. You know that the current sex education curriculum emphasizes both health and biological perspectives including sexual organs, abstinence, STIs, and the other possible dangers of sex. Your group is interested in adding a sociological perspective to the curriculum in addition to the existing material.
This assignment is intended to help your group condense the main ideas of your presentation and put together a handout that conveys these ideas. Your task is to present the material that you are planning to include in your pamphlet. This includes any information, illustrations or diagrams that the group would like to include. Remember that you are trying to provide information that a middle school audience will understand. You do not need to have the final version of your handout completed for this assignment. Each group will turn in one document containing all of the information. Make sure that you provide citations when you are taking information and ideas from other sources.
Component 1: Text that you want to include in your handout. This can include things like definitions of technical terms, explanations of your topic, popular ideas/myths about your topic, or questions students should think about/ask their parents or guardians about. Remember, you want your handout to capture the key points you will make in your presentation. Any information or ideas you take from outside sources must be properly cited.
Component 2: Images, illustrations, or diagrams that you want to include in your handout. For each image/illustration/diagram please include an explanation of why you are including it. If your group decides not to include any images/illustrations/diagrams please explain why you decided not to include any of those things. If you use any images/illustrations/diagrams that are not original work, they must be properly cited.
