This is Part 1 of a two part assignment: (I will submit the order for the second part at a later date, around Nov. 10) :
You will be required to complete a research paper using the course readings to analyze a primary source of your choosing. This primary source can be an archival document, an historical object, an oral history transcript or recording, a song, film (or other video recording), or a work of visual art, poetry, or literature. The document or object should have a connection to Asia, Africa, Latin America, and/or the Caribbean.
For the research proposal you will present your research question and topic, explaining why it's important and significant. Then you will indicate the theories you're going to employ in the paper, along with why these theories are best suited to understanding this particular topic. Then, you'll have a section that describes of the object you plan on analyzing and explains why this object is important.
Please read all 11 of the required reading, as the teacher will be looking for that. You may not necessarily utilize all 11 readings depending on your primary source, but depending on the primary source you pick the professor will know whether or not you have done the readings . I will attach all the readings below.
Part 2 is where you will write out the research paper using only the 11 required readings. No outside resources/articles required.
