RESPOND TO CARMELETA POST

Two limitations I identified as I carried out this project are finding the right funder and the right people who smoke to participate. Finding the funder who is likely to fund this project to help with reducing the amount of African American adults who smoke in New York City is important. The funder should be able to see a connection between the project or organization and their goals, and the aspects of this project must meet the funder’s criteria, such as target population or service given. People who smoke that I approach to take part in this project were reluctant and did not want to take part because they did not want their story to be put out in the public. Some of which I was able to convince that this can be anonymous and that this will not affect them in any way. To ensure that participants have the autonomy to choose whether or not to engage in research projects, researchers must ensure that prospective participants recognize that failing to participate in any research would not impact their access to current or future treatment in any way (Barrow, Brannan & Khandhar 2020). A survey was administered in-person to residents in randomly selected addresses in New York and our only bet was for participants who were willing to come abroad would be truthful to avoid getting false information.

These limitations impact my recommendations because a lack of data, especially reliable data, will almost certainly force us to restrict the reach of my research and the size of your sample, or it will be a major impediment to discovering a pattern and a meaningful relationship. Also, approaching the wrong funders would create an impact for failure in which we may not get the funds we need from that funders because they should have some form of interest in reducing the number of people who smoke.
