ANSWER EACH OF THESE QUESTIONS USING ONE OR TWO PARAGRAPHS
1.Review the assignment sheet for the research paper. What topics come to mind for your area? Then, write a research question. What issue will you research and analyze? What is interesting to you about this issue? What will you answer about this issue in your essay? Remember that you will be doing secondary research, not primary, and will be ultimately making a recommendation about the best course of action for members of your field to do in order to cope with/solve/mediate/etc. this issue. Research questions should be narrow enough that you can answer them in six pages. Avoid moral questions.
2. Read Synthesizing Research (slides). This slide show talks about the way sources work together to help you build your argument. As you read your sources, remember to think about the main point you’re trying to make in your paper (it may, of course, shift as you do research). How do two of your sources (at minimum) speak to your main point? Tell us what you’ve discovered so far and how this information will help you give build your argument/recommendation.
Give full citations for your two (or more) sources.
3. For this post, write a brief description of what individuals or groups or organizations you are going to address this argument to. Your paper doesn’t have to be written for people who are already experts in the field, but it should be written to people who have an interest and some knowledge about your subject, people who would need to hear or would welcome a recommendation. Try to picture them, or think about a publication or forum where a recommendation like this would be published or expressed.
4..Consider these issues in your description of your audience: What does your audience know/not know about your topic? What values or beliefs would this audience have, both in general and in relation to your subject? What expectations do they have? (We’ll want to call upon these values/beliefs/expectations in creating an argument for them.) What other context or factors do you imagine in your scenario for writing to this audience?
5..Your task here is to write a complete sentence outline for your paper. This means that each part of the outline MUST be written in a COMPLETE sentence.
