For your report, you’ll write a response to the book “Setting the table”
The written book report should be approximately 750 words. The report should NOT be a summary of what the book says; rather, you will want to select one or two anecdotes, principles, or perspectives that made YOU think about the industry differently. For example, there’s a vivid example in Gabrielle Hamilton’s book about how a chef needs to do all jobs – even the unpleasant and downright disgusting ones – that opened my eyes to the icky parts of the job as well as the humility required to own your own restaurant. If I was writing about this for the report, I would not need to retell this story, only give my response to it — how the incident changed me, what it makes me think about my own future in the industry, how it makes me think about others, etc.
Do not use your precious 750 words to tell me what happens in the book, only how it affects/changes/inspires/disgusts/frustrates/challenges/educates you.
