EDCG 521 Therapeutic Approach Research Paper (25 points)
For this paper, students must select one of the therapeutic approaches covered in our textbook
and explore this approach in detail. Students must address the theorist who are most associated
with the theory, the key concepts of the theory, as well as specific techniques and interventions
of the approach. Your paper should include a critique of the research (beyond the text) on the
effective use of this type of therapy with children and/or adolescents. Please also discuss how
this orientation could be used in your future work as a counselor (practical application). Please
also include information about how multicultural issues are considered with this orientation.
Your paper should also include the limitations of this approach. Choose an approach you
connect with and that would work well for your practice as a PPS practitioner. Please use books,
journal articles, credible web-sites, etc., to explore the approaches. When possible, primary
sources should be used. This paper should be at least eight pages (not including your references),
with 6 sources (minimum and can include the text) and written in APA format. At least one
source must be from the primary theorist.
