Sport Law!!
Term paper:
On a specific topic covered in the course (e.g., assault and battery criminal cases in sports or Title IX sexual harassment cases). You can state the basic law, with or without a case covered in class, in the first 1-2 paragraphs. Then you need to provide 2 or more cases (and an article or two if you’d like) on your topic and briefly summarize them. Your conclusion should wrap up the state of the law in the area you chose to research.

Q. Where do I find the cases?

A. You can use Google Scholar; you can look at some of the cases that are cited in the cases we covered in class (though they tend to be older cases); you can find articles that discuss cases in your topic area. One good source is the Marquette Law School Sports Law review, though it does get a bit technical, you can find cases in the articles and then find summaries of the cases online.

Don’t pick a broad topic such as “Title IX” – pick a particular issue within the topic (e.g., Title IX compliance or “enhanced or hidden risks” in assumption of risk cases
