Objectives: This assignment will give you the opportunity to: 1) assess your stressors and the amount of stress you are experiencing; 2) apply the research to develop a stress reduction plan; and 3) demonstrate your knowledge of the research on stress and its management.
Everyone is under stress these days, so for this assignment you are to develop a stress modification plan and also demonstrate what you have learned about stress and its management. Take the scales below to measure your stress. Use the directions and format in the file below.
In your paper, you can use a personal example, but you need to include and apply research findings that support your views regarding your stress, its causes, and its reduction. I would like to see an integration of your statements and examples and the research. I recommend making the relaxation response part of your plan when you are particularly stressed.
Use at least two reliable (scientific) sources. Be sure to cite your sources in the paper and list them at the end in APA format (-5 points if they are not cited). The paper needs to be mainly in your own words. Please refrain from using quoted “block text” (over 40 words or three sentences) and use quotes sparingly. I want to assess what you know and not what you can copy. Apply as many terms/concepts as you can (should be at least 12) and be sure to explain how they apply. Please bold or underline these terms. Paper length: three pages double spaced.
Plan Implementation (Optional for 5 points of extra-credit): I recommend implementing the plan if you have the time for a couple of weeks and assessing your stress levels each week. If you do this make sure you indicate the results in the paper. You can just add the results at the end after your plan in a page double spaced. Use a heading like “Plan Results”.
