System Review of Academic Performance

Note from the Lecturer:Thanks for sending me the proposal. I have two comments:The proposal seems to say you’ll do a literature review on the impact of physical activity on academic performance. Right? I think you need to call the project – a systematic review. A systematic review is a research project on its own, which is what you need for your dissertation. A systematic review is like a literature review but organised much more systematically in a step by step format. The methodology in the proposal talks about one study in particular. For a systematic review, you need to systematically select a few studies that you think are the best examples to discuss the impact of physical activity on academic performance. Please see attached an example of a systematic review. If you could now organise your dissertation this way, that would be great. Please let me know if you want to talk to me on this. We can organise a meeting on Blackboard or Teams.Essentially, you need to do the following:Select a number of keywords – physical activity, PE, sports, academic performance, academic success etc.Choose a number of databases – google scholar, ERIC, etc.Search the keywords and locate relevant studiesCheck the titles and abstracts of the relevant studies to reduce the number of selected studies.Read carefully the finally selected studies and generate compare/contrast tables based on their conclusionsSummarise the findings from these tables.Discuss what are the new things you see from studying these selected papers.Write your conclusionPoints 1-4 are your methodology section of dissertationPoints 5-7 are your Findings and Discussion section of dissertation
