This assignment was originally designed to include a field-based/practicum component, however, given covid-19 restrictions in early childhood facilities, this assignment has been modified as a research-based report. Video supplements will be used throughout the semester to highlight development play theory. Students will create a therapeutic play kit addressing a social/emotional need or play difficulty. A 15 page research paper and power-point summary presentation will address course concepts, relevant theory, and appropriate assessment resources as it relates to your therapeutic subject matter. Play activities must be developmentally appropriate and meet guidelines for a comprehensive scaffolding plan. Supplemental information and project guidance will be posted in a separate online lecture during weeks 2-3 of the semester. Project will need to be completed by including power point presentation. We will use the presentations as part of discussion for the final weeks of the semester.
