The essay should focus on the book Kindred, by Octavia Butler and answer the topic which I put in the paper title. Specifically the social injustice then and now and the abuse of power as well as any other major themes dealing with disrimination. I am using it for an application essay for an Ivy League school. I have received 5’s in all my english APs and have an unweighted GPA 4.0 at my current school. In essence, this essay should be kick-ass :).
I read this book for the first time at 14 and it had a profound impact on me. I would like to incorporate my work with Next Generations in the essay….something like this….I perceive that it is my obligation as a great-granddaughter of Holocaust survivors to arouse hope for a fair society. Essentially, I speak at different schools and educate students on the Holocaust and other forms of social mistreatments to open their eyes and inspire their optimism for harmonious humanity. Kindred significantly influenced my dedication and willingness to fight for Holocaust education and racial justice during the rise of antisemitism in this country and the continued unfair treatment of minorities. —-(needs to be written better)
