Understand the difference between listening and hearing.
Assignment Overview
One type of speech about processes is the demonstration speech. This demonstration speech, is a speech that teaches people how to perform a process. A speech on how to research the job market might discuss the process of evaluating online job sites. You need to limit your information to just what can be explained clearly and completely in the time you are allowed.
This written speech will become the basis for your presentation for your Week 5 Assignment, where you will build a narrated power point presentation.
Deliverables
A three to five minute written speech that demonstrates how to do something. Both a title page and a reference page are required.
Activity Details
Perform the following tasks:
Step 1: Read in your textbook.
Read the section on demonstration speeches on chapter 16. Then write out a 3- to 5- minute draft of a demonstration speech on paper. Remember that a demonstrative strives to show the audience how to do something, like how to ride a bike, how to plant roses, or how to bake brownies.
Remember to make sure that your speech has an obvious Introduction (with Attention Getter, Topic Statement, and Preview), a clear Body, and a Conclusion (with Summary and Closing Statement).
Be sure to proofread it several times for errors and a smooth flow in readability. Use the Full-Sentence Outline techniques as you prepare and formulate ideas.
NOTE: Be sure to follow a pattern for organization – time order, spatial order, cause-and-effect order, problem-solution order, and topical order.
