For additional information, you may also consult the website of UB Parking and Transportation Services: http://www.buffalo.edu/parking.html Assignment: Policy Recommendation In this project, you will assess the University at Buffalo parking system in light of knowledge gained in this learning module. You will prepare a brief analysis of the UB parking situation and advise on improvements. Your analysis should be divided into two sections: 1.) Consider the UB parking system as a whole. Consider aspects such as parking lots, transit service to and from lots (by public transportation and UB-sponsored buses), parking lots with limited access, areas designated for temporary parking only, etc. You may choose which aspects you wish to focus on. In doing so, you will propose two policy recommendations to improve the UB parking system. Your recommendations should be specific, and you should provide clear and convincing arguments and support for them. For example, if many parking lots are too far from people’s destinations, a policy recommendation might be that a parking shuttle should be implemented that runs every ten minutes. 2.) Next, pick a particular parking lot or parking facility in the UB system on any of the three campuses. Clearly identify the lot you choose by name and describe its location. Identify and describe strengths and weaknesses of the parking facility (including multi-modal access, proximity to origins and destinations, quality of maintenance and repair, lighting and safety features, signage, etc.) Include two images (could be original photos taken previously, images from the Internet with correct sources, or screen shots from Google Street View or Google Earth) that illustrate these features. Then suggest two recommendations that might improve problems you identify with your chosen parking facility. Again, offer clear and supported arguments for your recommendations.
