Assessment item 2 is made up of three components:(1) Annotated bibliographyThis is a short document in which at least six items are cited with accurate reference details using Harvard reference style. Each annotation consists of a paragraph of about 80 words which provides: a brief description of the contents of the item a concise statement of the central argument, and a brief evaluation of the usefulness of the piece of writing. The annotated bibliography should include at least two academic journal articles, one book, one authoritative (government or organisational) website and one other kind of written text. All of the pieces chosen to be examined need to be concerned with the same topic. It is advisable to choose the topic on which you want to write your essay so that the bibliography assists in your research for that.(2) Outline of an essayThis is a brief plan in dot-point format showing the path that you intend to follow in creating your essay. It should indicate in the introduction section the understanding of the question, the approach to be taken and a brief outline of the argument. There should be a section on the contents of the body of the essay, points to be made, evidence used; and a short section on the conclusions reached. The plan should not be more than a page in length.Note: The outline should be brief, presented in dot points rather than complete sentences, and demonstrate that you can plan a logical argument. There should be short indications of the evidence you may use to support your argument, as well as brief statements of the points to be made.(3) Introductory paragraphThis should be an attempt to show what you would consider important to include in the opening paragraph of your essay, and how you would approach it. The introductory paragraph needs to: state your understanding of the question to be answered show what you intend to argue, and presage what the approach of the essay is to be.This is an opportunity for you to find out ahead of time how well you can present the beginnings of a work, to obtain some feedback, and to change direction if you need to.Note: The topics provided for the final essay should be the topics used in this assignment. This will give you a chance to build upon the work in this assessment item for the final product at the end of the study period.Assessment PurposeThe combination assignment of the annotated bibliography, essay outline and introductory paragraph, helps to develop a range of useful skills. By finding, citing and examining a range of academic texts, you will be developing research skills. In having to write a brief overview of the articles, the skills of prcis and evaluation are improved, and most importantly, the skill of critical thinking is richly enhanced.Format & Submission All assignments should be submitted as a WORD document; Submit in 12 point type, preferably Times New Roman, Palatino or another serafic font Use double spacing (not single spacing as stated elsewhere) with reasonable margins Ensure your work is fully referenced using Harvard Referencing Style
