The first 400-600 words of this should be a factual report on what you have observed in following your blog/website. Start off by telling us what your period of observation is, and what you have seen. It’s ok to use bullet points in this.
The rest of the report should consist of your critical observations on what you have seen. This means: analyze what you’ve observed by asking questions like this:
How are gender roles and ideas about gender structured and shown in what you’ve observed?
How is sexuality portrayed in what you’ve observed?
What assumptions are made and shown about the relationship between sex and gender, and/or sex and sexuality in what you’ve observed?
How does gender intersect with other axes of identity/difference (sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, etc) in what you’ve observed?
You don’t have to answer every one of these questions (although you can.) Choose the ones which are relevant to your report.
An report in the A range will show that youve chosen an interesting site, and can analyze it in relation to the ideas that weve discussed in class. It will be clearly set out and structured, so that we can see whats relevant and important about the site, and can follow your analysis. Screenshots will be included if possible. The report will provide thoughtful answers to the prompt questions. It will demonstrate a clear understanding of the relevant ideas around gender and/or sexuality. It will draw on at least one academic source, relevant to the topic, and discussed so that we can see you understand it and how to apply it to popular media. Your own voice, supported by argument, will be clear. The report will be written in accurate English with no or few typos and spelling and grammatical mistakes.
