Main assignment instructions:
For our last project in the course, you will produce a multi-document, investigative research project that focuses on a controversial issue or subject in your topic (i.e., there must be a conversation to analyze; generally agreed upon knowledge does not leave room for investigation). This project will require you to research and become conversant with multiple views of your chosen issue within your topic, understand the significance and implications of this issue within your chosen topic, and produce an appropriate synthesis argument on the issue addressed to others within your topic. You will also have the opportunity to choose the format your project takes; some students may choose to produce a conference length academic research paper, while others may choose to produce a business report, a researched presentation or even an academic website on the subject. Regardless of what format your project takes, it must be a format appropriate for your topic and the audience you are addressing. Your project must also use the appropriate citation style (either MLA or APA, in most cases), and the bulk of your research must come from primary or secondary sources (Ten sources minimum).
In the course of this project, you will be required to submit two separate documents at two separate times:
-A brief statement of your project and your key arguments and an annotated bibliography detailing your progress in your research and analyzing your sources.
-A final, researched project document.

First part of the assignment instructions
The first stage of the Investigative Research Project will require you to identify your topic, your work completed so far, and provide an annotated bibliography describing your sources, their credibility and their relevance to your work.
The first document in this project, the Topic Description, is simply a 300 to 500 word document written to me (it can be single-spaced) that lets me know:
1. What topic you are pursuing for your Investigative Research Project and a working thesis for your paper.
2. Where you are at in your work on the topic, what you still need to do and how you could complete it.
3. Any questions you may have for me or things/concerns I could assist you with.
This is a formal document and should, therefore, contain an introduction and conclusion as well as the material listed above.
The second document, the Annotated Bibliography, is a document designed to describe the overall state of your research toward this project. In general, the document is a Works Cited list for your essay (or Reference page, depending on whether your discipline uses APA or MLA) with each citation on the list followed by a two-paragraph annotation containing:
1. The first paragraph should provide a brief summary of the source, touching on its key points and conclusions.
2. The second paragraph should assess the quality of the source (where does it come from and why is it credible) and describe exactly how it applies to your work and how it will be used in your final Investigative Research project.
The annotated bibliography must be at least ten sources in length and presented in appropriate APA/MLA format.
THIS FIRST ESSAY (FIRST PART OF ASSIGNMENT) MUST HAVE TEN SOURCES AND BE 3 PAGES LONG!!!!! IT MUST ALSO BE ABOUT THE TOPIC I HAVE CHOSEN “ALTERNATIVE REALITY”.
