Op-Ed Proposal
Goals/Purposes:
For students to formally present their ideas for the op-piece and get started with it.
Instructions:
For your op-ed proposal, please answer the following questions:
Which issue or problem are you discussing in your op-ed piece?
What are the main reasons for choosing such an issue or problem? You can present personal, professional, and/or political reasons.
What is the connection between your chosen issue/problem and social inequality? Why do you believe your choice is a good one for this assignment?
Can you anticipate any difficulty in the process of crafting your op-ed? Are you worried about any aspect related to this assignment? For example, are you confused about the scope of an op-ed piece? Are you uncertain about the topic? Do you feel you may not be able to find relevant studies? these are just examples; you may present any (other) concern you have.
Your proposal should be 1 page in length, double space. Answer the questions in sequence. Organize your ideas clearly – you are free to present them on bullets or as a traditional text. The more specific you are about your ideas, the better I can visualize your proposal and provide useful feedback.
Grading:
Your grade will likely be high if you answer all the questions above.
