Who is ‘a good person’? Critically reflect on the various meanings of the term.
Instructions-
1. Answer has to refer to Brecht’s idea of goodness and your reading of goodness in the ‘Good Person of Szechwan’. In a way, you have to provide a working definition of a good person wrt Brecht and yourself.
2. Comment on the moral idea of being good. You may choose to refer to the works of philosophers who have invested their time and energy in thinking about it or just rely on ‘yourself’. [Please allude/refer to Plato here.

3. It has to be a reflective paper as mentioned in the question. What does that mean? You have to think through your own personal ideas of being a good person, what lead to the formation of these ideas, by being a good person do you have a goal in mind or is being good self satisfactory? If yes, then why? Does your idea of being a good person align with Brecht’s? If yes then why? if no, then why not? Does goodness have to be universal or personal? What could be the pros and cons of either kinds of goodness? Is being good a necessity or a choice? These are but some of the questions that you can use for forming your own thesis about the very abstract but potent and determining idea of goodness (and by extension, bad or evil) that govern our lives. You do not have to necessarily use them. I encourage you to form your own set of questions, and work through them.
4. You can take certain creative liberty while answering the question. For example- what if the play ended differently? Would that change our idea of goodness vis a vis the play? Or Engage with the idea of goodness with some socio cultural issue, or is it gendered etc. ? Again, these are some examples of the questions you can use but I encourage you to think of things that interest you and work through that.
Marks will be on the clarity of thought, arguments and explanation, efforts and creative critical engagement with the question.
