-For this assignment, I have already selected the scientific literature to cite which I will add later to the completed work. The essay is supposed to be story like, engaging the senses of the audience and provide them with something to relate to. I want to depict fragrance as the arch nemesis of society, the seductive poison to out community. Fragrance can cause a slew of issues, it exaterbates preexisting skin diseases and adds to the list of allergies to other ingredients that otherwise wouldn’t cause issue because fragrance is a co-sensitizer. When an individual develops allergies to other ingredients, they must now be wary of a larger collection of products to avoid that specific allergy. The article I am citing is a patch study done with patients that have eczema and how fragrance triggers a flare-up. They isolated a patch of healthy arm skin and placed a common skincare fragrance on the area and monitored over a 7 day period. Since the study only had 13 participants it lacks data and efficacy. . . I would like to somehow incorporate that in the essay. For the “story-like” theme, Id like to have the audience view through the lens of the scientists doing this study, (some of the hurdles they come across and problem solving). I will include a link to a related essay/article that takes information from scientific literature made for experts and alters it into something for a general audience. I want fragrance to be the main focus and how its causes more harm than good “topically.”

Instructions are below
Thinking rhetorically about scientific and technical documents requires the ability to respond to a variety of audiences. For this project, you will find an article in a journal related to your profession and translate it for an audience who does not belong to your professions particular discourse community. One possible audience could be the readers of the New York Times Tuesday science page, general readers who are interested in or affected by the research.
As we work on sample articles, youll notice that the adapted articles are very people-oriented. While you most likely will not be able to interview the researchers who wrote your technical article, youll still need to think like a reporter or a science writer. So think about researchers as humans performing an experiment or procedure that has implications for other humans.
You can use different methods for adapting material for general readers, but I would like you to practice writing a narrative. I have outlined
Think about how you will structure your essay in terms of the introduction, coherent paragraphs, and smooth transitions. Good papers will not only translate the content in a more digestible way for their audience, they will also convince their audience that they need or want to know the information. Excellent papers will take a dynamic and creative approach to re-presenting the material for a different audience.
Requirements: Your final paper will be about 3 – 4 typed, double-spaced pages.
References: You must include a citation or link to your original article at the end of the paper.

– anticipates and answers audience questions: who? what? where? when? with what results? so what?
Organization:
– gives background when needed, makes an immediate connection with a familiar situation, blends narrative with broader information from the research article.
– presents a title that connects the topic to the audience’s interests
Style:
– concise explanations and specific examples
– paper uses concrete words, good action verbs
