With regards to a particular area within a hotel, e.g. housekeeping, front office, bar/restaurant, etc. you are to use Information Systems/Information Technology to develop a service concept that might be used to enhance a current service or develop a new service for customers. This service that you develop should achieve one or more of the following three goals: Improve efficiency; Enhance service delivery; Increase current market share. Your report will have to contain sections on the following:1. How the current service that you propose to improve/enhance operates;2. What IS/IT are you proposing to use to improve/enhance this service, here you have to show evidence of research by introducing 3 alternatives and explaining why you have chosen the one alternative that you are proposing;3. How you propose to use this IS/IT to achieve the implementation of your service improvement/enhancement;4. How will your proposed IS/IT enhancement will improve or enhance this and how will you measure this enhancement or improvement;5. What are the potential benefits and drawbacks of this change;6. What will it cost? For example, you may wish to explore the establishment of enhanced check-in services which cater to the business traveller, therefore you will have to describe how the current check in service operates, after this you should introduce your three alternatives, e.g. self-service kiosks, mobile check in, express check in desk. You then discuss why you have chosen on of these alternatives, e.g. mobile check in. From here you have to explain how this will enhance or improve the service, and how you will use it to achieve this. Finally, why we should invest, the benefits, drawbacks and how you measure the success along with costs should be discussed. You will need to write this in the form of a report. For the purposes of this assignment that I am your General Manager within the hotel and that you are writing a report to put forward the case for this technology related new/enhanced service. In terms of the technology being proposed for your new/enhanced service concept it is necessary that you provide at least three technological alternatives that can be used. You should also give reasons why you chose your particular technological alternative from the three you introduce. (E.g. If you are proposing to use an enhanced order taking service for a restaurant, you should give three alternatives of restaurant ordering taking technologies along with which you have chosen and why). For all of the above evidence of extensive research of the various alternatives in use by the industry should be given (at least three alternatives should be included).NOTE! Failure to do so will result in you being given a 0 mark and at the VERY LEAST being required to resubmit the assignment if not the entire module or the exclusion from exams for an extended period of time.
