Your book review will be written on Baseball’s Great Experiment: Jackie Robinson and His Legacy by Jules Tygiel. Your book review has no minimum or maximum length. I believe most people can write the review in about 4-5 pages. My only requirement is that you fully respond to the following points.
1. What is the point of the book? Your author has spent a tremendous amount of time writing a book. Why? What is he trying to say/prove? (Dont simply say hes trying to make money.) One paragraph is sufficient for this section.
2. Jackie Robinson experienced a tremendous amount of discrimination during his baseball career. From the book, pick a specific incident of discrimination that he experienced. Summarize the incident, and explain how Jackie Robinson reacted to the discrimination. List the page(s) within the book that the incident can be found. (If you do not give the page number, you will receive no points for this section)
3. Do the same as #2, but choose a different incident. Again include the page number. (If you do not give the page number, you will receive no points for this section)
4. Jackie Robinson was not the only black player to experience discrimination in baseball. Pick another black player who was mentioned in the book. Explain a specific incident of discrimination he experienced, and explain how he reacted to the discrimination. Again include the page(s) where the incident is described in the book. (If you do not give the page number, you will receive no points for this section)
5. In the book the author describes many cities as being racially biased against blacks. From the book, explain a specific instance of a city having a bias against blacks. Include the page where the incident is explained in the book. (If you do not give the page number, you will receive no points for this section)
6. From the book, explain one specific thing that a white person did to help end discrimination against blacks in baseball. Again include the page number. (If you do not give the page number, you will receive no points for this section)
7. Explain 2 things that you liked about the book, and tell me why you liked them.
8. Explain 2 things you disliked about the book, and tell me why you did not like them.
