This will ask you to compare and contrast these ‘waves’ of Black gender consciousness: Black Feminism, Womanism (from both Walker and Phillips), and Africana Womanism, Intersectionality, and Critical Race Feminism. However, I do not want the format to be directed toward me. Use this as a theme to address a letter to one of the scholars discussed in class thus far. Write a letter to this individual (or group) explaining the strengths and weaknesses you find in their discussions of Black gender consciousness. In order to make your claim stronger, you will need to compare and contrast them to other waves of Black gender consciousness. What praise or critique would you give that author/scholar?
