Nurses care for a diverse population. This workshop will focus on sociocultural and spiritual factors impacting the health of patients. References
This is a partial reference list for the chapters of the Professional Nursing: Concepts & Challenges textbook. Since this book has chapter authors named at the top of each chapter, you need to cite the chapter author rather than simply citing Black. Black is the editor, not the author.
To create this list, I typed the name of the author (2019) and the title of the chapter. Then, I copied everything from: In B. P. Black to the end of the reference and changed the page numbers. (Note: Your reference list should be in alphabetical order and should have a hanging indent so that the authors name is easy to spot). Note the a and b are used to differentiate citations between different authors by the same author. Delete the a and b if you are only citing and referencing one chapter written by the author.

Review the questions in the Considering Culture Box on page 295 in Professional Nursing: Concepts and Challenges (9th ed.).
Prepare to discuss the following prompts:
Describe your cultural heritage including traditions that may have been passed down through your family.
Describe a time when you were aware of a cultural difference within another person. How did you respond to that difference-how did it make you feel?
Describe patients you have had that have cultural traditions that have affected the care you have provided for them.
Within the vulnerable population you chose to serve during this course, of what social, cultural, and spiritual considerations should nurses be aware?
Write an initial response to the discussion prompts and post it to the discussion forum by the end of the fourth day. Your initial post should be a minimum of four paragraphs with a minimum of three sentences per paragraph and two sources correctly cited and referenced, to support your information. You may use your textbook as one of these sources.
Read and respond to at least two of your classmates posting by the end of the workshop. You are encouraged to respond to the follow-up instructor questions directed to you. Your responses to classmates should be a minimum of six sentences in length and should be added on a minimum of two days during the workshop.
