Mpongwe hospital has no beds patients sleep on the floor;
No bed-linen,
No curtain in wards and side bed curtains
No incubators in the maternity ward, has a result they have seen a rise in mortality rates of premature babies and those who survive hot bottles are used despite been a health hazard.
Maternity ward has no maternity delivery bed, instead there is only one old bed, therefore if it is taken up it means those arriving later will deliver on the floor if lucky enough on the mattress.
Maternity ward has no weighing scale for newly born baby
even in the maternity ward has a result there is no dignity for women giving birth at the hospital.
As the result of these finds women would rather stay in their villages and give birth to a child at home, for they feel there is no difference and they compromise their dignity by going to the hospital because they are not covered during labour pains and delivery times to lack of the mentioned items above.
Children’s wards is the same there are no beds, linen and neither mattresses to meet the demand and weighing scale will be of help to ensure the children are weighed on admission and discharge day.
Men’s wards lack curtains and beds as well.
The laboratory which is at the hospital is very old and does requires a lot of maintenance.
