Write a research a topic in language and social interaction (turn-taking, conversation across cultures, gesture and use of the body in interaction, preference organization, repair, etc.) and write a state of-the-art on what is understood about the topic. In this kind of paper, you should be sure to include references to literature on the topic. You might also say something about what is missing in the existing research or ways of applying the findings.
For either (a) or (b), the paper should be 5-10 pages long, well-written, and should make a clear argument supported by analysis. Length is ultimately not that important. The quality of the paper is much more important. The paper should be typed, double spaced, 12pt font, with 1-inch margins.
