For this assignment you will do a bit of Online research about the role of indigenous women as go-betweens of cultural interpretors in the context of European colonialism. This is something that was discussed extensively in Module Eight and you might want to consider review Pamela McVay’s chapter “The Atlantic World, 1492-1750: Speaking for Corts.”
Research and write up a brief report (2 pages minimum) about one of the following:
*Pochahontas.
*Sacagawea.
*Krotoa/Eva (a Khoena woman who acted as interpreter between the Dutch East India Company and various tribes in southern Africa).
*Mtis (a recognized indigenous nation who descend from the marriages of European explorers and indigenous women).
*Pakeha-Maori (19th century Europeans who chose to live the Maori and often marrying Maori women).
Beyond simply providing information, you should reflect on the colonial practice of using indigenous women as go-betweens. Your paper should be in your own words and include a work cited list/bibliography.
