The Role of Technology
In Essay 1, you used an artifact to explain your identities and cultural values and used personal examples to illustrate your points. In this essay, you will read two articles on the topic of technology and will express your opinion on the role of technology in today’s classroom. You will build on your writing skills learned in the previous unit and will learn how to write a persuasive essay and how to use outside sources to support your argument.
Your essay should have:
a bold claim,
grounds for making that claim,
a warrant,
evidence from the assigned readings,
a rebuttal, and
a qualifier.
Follow the Toulmin structure. Do not forget to include a strong claim and a clear warrant.
MLA Format
YOUR ESSAY SHOULD BE IN MLA FORMAT which includes double spacing, indented first-line paragraphs, and 12-pt. Times New Roman font see Purdues OWL website for detailed instructions.
GRADING REQUIREMENTS
Your paper will be graded on its Rhetorical Situation (how well did you use the Toulmin Argument), Organization, Grammar, Formatting, and Development.
It should be at least a minimum of 750 words in length.
Make sure your paper is in MLA Style, and that you have not plagiarized any part of the work.
