Write an introduction that describes the context into which you plan to intervene.

In this project proposal, you must include: a detailed discussion of the context of your development intervention that identifies the need your intervention seeks to address, the supporting factors and the risk factors your intervention faces, a detailed description of your
proposed intervention including sources of funding and evaluation indicators, and an analysis that explains why your proposed intervention is well-suited to address the need youve described applying the concepts.

Write an introduction that describes the context into which you plan to intervene. In this section, you are expected to cite scholarly sources and may also use non-scholarly sources like reports, news articles, and institutional websites as long as they are appropriately cited in the text.

Describe your proposed intervention in detail. What is its mission, and what are the mechanisms through which you believe your intervention will achieve the desired impact? Ex. The mission might be getting more young women into higher education to improve their personal and economic outcomes. The intervention will seek to achieve that by giving women access to free childcare that is local and culturally appropriate. Further, this intervention doesnt assume that childcare is the only barrier to education for women, so the center also has childcare, computers, and tutors available in the evenings to allow women to study, and provides eat-in or take-home meals, to support women in juggling the competing demands of studying while caring for a family. In this section, you are expected to cite scholarly sources and may also use non-scholarly sources like reports, news articles, and institutional websites as long as they are appropriately cited in the text. Identify the main risks your intervention might face, including impacts of political instability, climate-related disasters, trouble engaging the target population, difficulty accessing key resources. As best you can address how you might mitigate such risks through collaborations, back-up plans, and alternative approaches. Here it would be helpful to reference studies or evaluation reports about similar interventions in which such risks were identified or addressed. (About 125 words)

Establish an estimated budget for the intervention. Be clear about if this is a budget for the duration of a time-bound intervention or an annual budget for ongoing intervention. You do not need to provide a breakdown of the budget into categories, you can just provide an overall number, but do your background research and make sure its reasonable. Identify the key sources of funding to which you would submit a proposal for this intervention. You are expected to do some research and be as specific as possible. For example, dont just say this project would be funded by the World Bank. Instead, look at existing funding structures for different institutions and identify programs through which your intervention could reasonably expect to receive funding, and identify amounts that are fair to expect. Combining funding from a few different sources is advisable. It is recommended to look at similar programs and tracing their funding to identify potential opportunities for your intervention. (About 125 words)

Identify the evaluation indicators that you will use to determine if your intervention has achieved its desired impact. What are the main criteria or evaluation questions that you would use to judge its value? What standards would you use to determine if the intervention is worth continuing, replicating, or scaling up? For example, do you need to conduct a baseline study before you begin to be able to measure the change or will you use another approach? Here it could be helpful to look at evaluation reports for similar programs to see what worked well or didnt. (About 125 words)

Provide a detailed analysis about how your intervention relates to globalization, development, and inequality, and connect your intervention to the concepts used to explore these ideas in the course lectures and readings. This section should take the form of an essay and include a brief introduction including a thesis statement, body sections detailing your arguments, and conclusion. In this section, you are expected to cite scholarly sources, including but not limited to course materials. (About 700 words)
