As a group, you are to write a thorough summary of the book that all of you read for this project. 4. Events: what are the main things that happen in the book? Do they happen to the author, or to others, or both?
5. People: what people, other than the other, are discussed in the book? How does the author discuss/depict members of their culture? How does the author discuss/depict members of other cultures?
6. Culture: what does the book tell the reader about the author’s culture?
7. Message: what does the book say about the experiences of the author (and others of their culture)? What lessons can it teach to people who are not members of that culture?
8. Communication: what in the book can contribute to our understanding of communication among members of the author’s culture? What does it contribute to our understanding of inter-cultural communication? What in the book illustrates concepts that we have considered in class, or that are discussed in our textbook?
Needless to say, this summary should be your original work. It should not be taken from any other reviews, reports or summaries. It should be written clearly, with correct grammar and spelling. It should be thoroughly proofread.
