Prompt: Write a paper in which you recount a political event in American Politics that left a significant impression on you. Speculate about how that event or issue may have shaped your views towards our government and politics. Did it leave you cynical? idealistic? apathetic? Include a discussion of which political socialization agents have shaped the formulation of your political opinions while growing up. Since this is an American Politics course, the assignment has to cover a political event that you have experienced within the American Political system, not something you learned in a class, watched in a documentary, etc. It could relate to any issue pertaining to the Federal, State or Local levels of government, though its most likely that the majority of sources for your research would be found for the first 2 levels.
I was thinking that the Black Lives Matter Movement would work and the effects that has caused and maybe touch on racial prejudice throughout history as well.
