OUTLINE FOR RESEARCH PAPER:
Introduction: Explain in general terms your theme in a few sentences. Be sure to indicate the selected theme and works for your paper. Refrain from referring to the assignment and yourself in the paper with I and my. Use third-person point of view. (AVOID: My paper will show I have chosen the theme of.. For this assignment I have selected). 75-100 words
Scope and Location of theme in each work: Where does the theme occur in each? Just saying everywhere or throughout the work is not sufficient. Specify where the theme is especially emphasized or crucial in each work. Please note that themes are ideas that the writer explores in his/her work. 50-100 words
Discussion Section: This should be at least four to six paragraphs of 150-200 words each. Each paragraph should select one aspect or subdivision of the theme that you will analyze in the slave narrative.. Simply establishing the existence of a theme in a work is essential but not sufficient. What is author suggesting about the nature of the theme and how it presents and evaluates slavery in the narrative. 750-1200 words.
Conclusion: Briefly summarize your analysis in three or four sentences. 50-75 words
REQUIRED LENGTH: 1250-1500 words. (Thats about 5-6 pages typed, double-spaced, with a 12 pt. font and one-inch margins).
