Now that you have your topic, the next step is to prepare a plan (outline) for your research paper.
Keep in mind that your essay will be five paragraphs in length. You will need an introduction, 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each of your body paragraphs will make ONE main point about your chosen research topic.
To find your three main points (one for each body paragraph), you will need to read the research articles I have provided for your particular topic in this learning module. You are only required to read the articles for your specific topic.
As you read the articles, write down the quotes that provide a good answer to your research question. For example, if your essay is trying to explain Ophelias tragic situation in Hamlet, then you will need to read all of the Ophelia articles carefully. Youll try to find three different quotes (in three different articles) that make 3 clear and interesting points about Ophelias tragic situation Dont forget to note the author, title, and page number of each quote as you write it down.
You are basically shopping in the provided articles for the 3 main points you will need for your essay. You just want to make sure that each point is distinct from the others. You dont want any of your points to repeat or overlap each other. Please note that you do not have to use all of the articles. Choose the three articles that offer the three quotes/main points that you want.
The articles I have provided for your topic should give you everything you need for this assignment. If you want to find different articles, you will need to use the PHSC academic databases. You MAY NOT use open internet sources for this research paper. I have included the instructions for accessing the databases within this module.
