As a part of your analytic and cultural instruction in the arts, each student will be responsible for an individual research project on one of the most influential artists working today. The project should be an examination of the artists work and career, and make a specific claim about a technical aspect (for example: brushwork or color) or conceptual aspect (for example: identity, cultural impact).
The paper should focus on a number of general characteristics that are relevant to all artists. Some of these characteristics include a personal biography, a description of the formal and conceptual identity of their work, and perhaps a brief contextualization of their work in culture. .
Your research paper should be 2 full pages single spaced, 12 pt Calibri font, normal margins. I will format any papers to these parameters to double check length. Be sure to include citations and make sure the paper is grammatically sound. In addition to the 2 pages, you’ll need a one page bibliography or works cited page. Biographical information as well as information on the artists work. Remember to include information on the concepts behind the artist’s project and have documentation to back it up. Don’t just assume.
