Evidence-Based Practice and the Quadruple Aim Healthcare organizations continually seek to optimize healthcare performance.

Assignment: Evidence-Based Practice and the Quadruple Aim
Healthcare organizations continually seek to optimize healthcare performance. For years, this approach was a three-pronged one known as the Triple Aim, with efforts focused on improved population health, enhanced patient experience, and lower healthcare costs.
More recently, this approach has evolved to a Quadruple Aim by including a focus on improving the work life of healthcare providers. Each of these measures are impacted by decisions made at the organizational level, and organizations have increasingly turned to EBP to inform and justify these decisions.
To Prepare:
Read the articles by Sikka, Morath, & Leape (2015); Crabtree, Brennan, Davis, & Coyle (2016); and Kim et al. (2016) provided in the Resources.
Reflect on how EBP might impact (or not impact) the Quadruple Aim in healthcare.
Consider the impact that EBP may have on factors impacting these quadruple aim elements, such as preventable medical errors or healthcare delivery.
To Complete:
Write a brief analysis (no longer than 2 pages) of the connection between EBP and the Quadruple Aim.
Your analysis should address how EBP might (or might not) help reach the Quadruple Aim, including each of the four measures of:
Patient experience
Population health
Costs
Work life of healthcare providers

Logical Fallacies

This is a response to the previous assignment. I will let you pick a response topic. my parents were strict christians and everthing I did was wrong. So let me know if you have any questions.

Let’s look at your third example of the Ad Hominem fallacy. This is usually a strategy used when the person who is on the defensive has no legitimate reasons to support their claims about an issue regarding another party and so they grasp for what I call the low-hanging fruit of character assassination. This is a smoke screen but it is quite effective. I see many examples of this on social media today. Have you experienced or been the target of such a fallacy in your life? It may be a hard example to share so it’s up to you. I can remember in high school this fallacy was used by parents. If they didn’t want their kids hanging out with particular kids. The fallacy usually went this way that because X drinks alcohol underage this behavior reflects on their character as a whole and it reflects negatively, so the parents prefer if their child does not hang out with such a person. I’m not sure whether you think this is a legitimate argument but I think we can understand the motivation by parents even though I would say it is a misuse of reason.

The most common professional setting in which I see this fallacy used without embarrassment or hesitation is in our courts of law. We have seen this in the public discussions we had on the allegations made against men by women. Often we see that the effective way to cast doubt on any allegations is to focus on the behavior of the victim rather than the accused.

I am hoping that you can argue that the fallacy was committed in your example using Standard Form.

How was the Ad Hominem Argument committed in your example?

First you must include the logical form of the fallacy and then plug in key points from your example for each premise to fit the definition of the fallacy.

P1: The Ad Hominem Argument follows this form: Person A is claiming Y, Person A is X, therefore, Y is not true.

P2: (the following claims should contain key details in your example that fit the definition of the logical form of the fallacy provided in P1)

P3:

(…)

C: Therefore, the Ad Hominem Argument has been committed.

Please try this and I will circle back later….Thanks!

Instructions:

A family of three, made up of a single mother, her 14-year-old son, and her 7-year-old daughter have contacted a licensed clinical social worker for immediate help. They have recently experienced the unexpected and violent death of the husband and father of the family during a neighborhood block party. They are emotionally devastated, and actively grieving. The children have not returned to their schools since the death of their father, which was two weeks ago. And their mother has not yet returned to work. The funeral for their family member was several days ago.

In a 3 5 page paper, prepared in the latest APA format, please answer the questions below about this case study, using concepts, theories, and facts from the course materials available through this fourth week:

1. Describe how the social worker could use evidence-based assessment with the mother of this family.

2. Compare and contrast how the social worker could use different evidence-based assessments with the two children of the family.

3. The mother has expressed an interest in family (group) therapy to help them through their grief. Describe the treatment plan that the social worker could propose to her, after the initial assessments are completed.

In all three of these questions, please demonstrate how the age of each family member would be carefully considered in both their assessment and the treatment strategies.

Final Argumentative Research Essay

You will write (draft, revise, and submit) a research paper that addresses one of the following options:

Accept Alexanders invitation (15-16) to produce additional scholarship focused on mass incarceration and other communities vulnerable to mass incarceration (women, Latinos, immigrants, etc.). If you select this option, make sure that your essay does not simply report on this issue. You must make an argument. Use Alexanders text as an example of how to both provide information regarding the issue and make an argument.
Write an essay that proposes an alternative to (mass) incarceration. There are many alternatives to (mass) incarceration. They include but are not limited to restorative justice, community-based justice, sentencing circles, counseling, mediation, interventions, rehabilitation, restitution, resolution, community service, drug courts, mental health courts, prison abolition, etc. Your essay should argue for an alternative to mass incarceration. Note: This option does NOT require you to argue against the practice of imprisonment unless that is what you wish to argue.
Focus on a particular aspect of Alexanders text that you wish to research, explore, and discuss more fully. Please note that the subject of a paper focused in this way should be a particular topic touched on by Alexander. The subject is not Alexanders argument about this particular topic. For example, if you want to make an argument for or against stop and frisk laws, you would not simply restate Alexanders argument in place of making your own argument. Additionally, if you disagree with Alexander on stop and frisk, you would not frame this paper as a response to Alexanders argument. That being said, you could use Alexanders research and writing to support your own original argument, or you could use Alexanders research and writing as counterargument. You are not required to use Alexanders writing in your final paper. As stated above, do not forget that you must make an argument. You should not simply report on the subject matter.
Essay details:

5-7 pages/1250-2100 words in length, not counting your works cited page
5 appropriate and credible sources, two of which should be scholarly academic sources
MLA (8th edition) style formatting and documentation
Works cited page with MLA (8th edition) style citations for each source
You will be required to perform research in order to write this paper. You will need various types of sources. Your will need factual/statistical data to help you explain the current state of your issue and/or support your own argument. You will also need sources that represent the various perspectives regarding your topic in order to present your audience with an overview of the debate/discussion surrounding your issue. These sources should present arguments that both support and counter your own perspective. We will discuss in class how to make use of counterarguments. You are required to reference at least five sources in your paper. Two of these sources should be scholarly. Your scholarly sources will likely be articles originally published in academic journals. However, you may also look to academic perspectives published in edited collections and individually authored books. Your non-scholarly sources should be credible and may consist of writing by advocacy organizations, government entities, individual/group activists, new media, etc.

Your paper should be formatted according to MLA guidelines and should include a Works Cited page. The Works Cited page does not count toward your final page count.
