• Based on your discipline’s research problem scenario, create a problem statement.

• Draft an introduction for your abbreviated research plan.

Next, ask yourself the following questions:
• What are your research questions? To what extent can you test them? How would you justify the viability of your questions?

• What are your hypotheses? How would you test them?

• Why would this design be the most appropriate for answering the research questions? Conversely, why would qualitative and mixed methods designs not be appropriate?

• What quantitative approach would you select for this study? Why is that approach the most appropriate one for answering the research questions?

• What theoretical framework or perspective would you use?

• What is your target population? How would you identify and recruit participants? What factors would contribute to determining appropriate sample size? You will not need to calculate sample size for this assignment.

• What are the independent and dependent variables?

• If appropriate for your plan, what instruments might you need?

• What data collection procedures might you use? Why would those be the most appropriate methods to use? How would that data help to answer your research question(s)/hypotheses?

• What are threats to validity? How might you mitigate them?

• How might you analyze the data?

• What are the ethical considerations related to the plan?

1). The assignment:
• Craft a 1 page paper in which you do the following:

“I’m a nurse as well, so I come into this with a health perspective looking at research from a holistic perspective, recognizing that if we’re examining any phenomena within health, that we have to look at it from many angles, that it isn’t always just cause and effect.”
—Dr. Debra Rose Wilson, “Mixed Methods: Examples,” Research Theory, Design, and Methods
In this week’s video segment, Dr. Wilson details a study that called for a mixed methods approach and the ways in which her profession in general draws from different strategies and approaches. By incorporating quantitative and qualitative approaches in an abbreviated mixed methods research plan this week, you too will gain a broader understanding of the range of research possibilities.

This Week: Submit Draft of an Abbreviated Mixed Methods Research Plan
To prepare for this Application, first focus on the following instructions:
• Review Chapter 10 in the course text, Research Design, the “Trustworthiness” and “Threats to Internal Validity” handouts, and the “Mixed Methods: Examples” media segment.

• Consult Table 10.1 (p. 205) in the course text, Research Design, to guide you in polishing your abbreviated mixed methods research plan.

Next, ask yourself the following questions:
• What are your research questions? To what extent can you test them? How would you justify the viability of your questions?

• What are your hypotheses? How would you test them?

• Why would this design be the most appropriate for answering the research questions? Conversely, why would quantitative or qualitative on their own not be appropriate?

o For a mixed methods design, which design is the primary one? Why is that appropriate?

• What approach would you select for this study (experimental, survey, ethnography, grounded theory, etc.)? Why is that approach the most appropriate one for answering the research questions?

• What theoretical framework or perspective would you use?

• What is your target population? How would you identify and recruit participants? What factors would contribute to determining appropriate sample size? You will not need to calculate sample size for this assignment.

• If appropriate for your plan, what instruments might you need?

construction-related fall accidents

In this course, you are asked to prepare a research paper on construction-related fall accidents. To get started on the research paper, it is best to begin to narrow down your topic, or the accident. You have two choices for this assignment. Complete only ONE of the following options.
Option One: At this point, if you are unsure about which accident to select, narrow it down to three accidents. Write two to three paragraphs and include each of the following:
? Briefly summarize the accident;
? Your initial thoughts about the cause of the accident; and
? Your initial thoughts about potential fall protection plan(s).
Option Two: If you are sure about your topic, prepare one to two pages of your initial thoughts about the accident. Include each of the following:
? Briefly summarize the accident;
? Your initial thoughts about the cause of the accident; and
? Your initial thoughts about potential fall protection plan(s).
The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to select a topic (i.e., accident) for your Research Paper, and to begin thinking about how you will approach the rest of the paper.
Format your Paper Topic using APA style. Use your own words, and include citations and references as needed to avoid plagiarism.

Unit VI Paper Outline
The research paper in this course asks you to select a topic or scenario, research it, and report the details.
By now, you had the opportunity to review the topics, select one, and briefly reflect on the topic. To stay on track and to continue to make progress on the research paper, prepare an outline with the major headings or topic sentences. An outline is a great way to provide organization for papers and projects. Your outline should include the following:
? The topic;
? One paragraph that describes the importance of the topic; and
? At least four major headings in outline form.
CSU requires that students use the APA format in writing course papers. Therefore, the APA rules for formatting, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and listing of sources are to be followed.
You do NOT have to commit to the details of your outline until the research paper is finished. As you continue to research the topic and draft the paper, the organization of your thoughts (i.e., the details of the outline) may evolve. That is expected and acceptable. To organize those thoughts, it is a good idea to begin with an outline.
Use your own words, prepare the assignment in a word-processing application, and submit the outline as one of the following file formats: DOC, DOCX, or PDF.

RESEARCH PAPER:
Accidents from falling are one of the leading causes of death and injuries in the construction industry. Find and review several articles in professional publications on construction-related fall accidents. Also, find and review several sample fall protection programs for construction companies, as well as visit ww.osha.gov for relevant fall protection requirements. Choose at least one accident you would like to research further and construct a paper that includes the following:
? A brief introduction of the problem with fall-related accidents in the construction industry.
? A review and analysis of the fall accident chosen for further research.
? A detailed discussion on the causative factors associated with the fall accident.
? A sample fall protection program developed to suit only the type of work being performed in the accident that is
being reviewed. Be specific and include the factors related to the accident. (Do not include portions of a program
not directly related to the work in the researched accident.)
? A summary of the student’s conclusions on fall hazards in the construction industry, and opinions on the necessity
for a fall protection plan.
Your research paper analysis should be at least five pages of text in 12-point double-spaced Times Roman font. Please include an APA style reference for the in-text citations and references that you use.

Assignment 5: Contract Cost and Documentation for the Navy

Assignment 5: Contract Cost and Documentation for the Navy

Due Week 10 and worth 300 points

Based on the same scenario as in Assignments 1, 2, 3 and 4, you are now considering the final factors needed for your proposal based on RFP #123456789, dated 07/14/2014.

Additional factors to consider are:

1. The other local competitor has removed their name from consideration and has requested to become your company’s sub-contractor due to your company’s patent on the specialty coating.

2. Your existing floor equipment is dated. However, you have learned that the Navy base has floor equipment which is not currently being used.

Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:

1. Determine the payment type (i.e., receiving progress payments, performance-based payments, or partial payments) you will use in your bid. Provide a rationale for your response.

2. Determine the approach and the key terms that you would consider in requesting the use of the Navy’s floor equipment. Provide a rationale for your response.

3. Propose the quality control and inspection procedures that you believe should be included in your proposal. Provide a rationale for your response.

4. Determine, because of your company’s private patent on the specialty floor coating, whether the Navy would or would not have a patent infringement objection for the use of the coating. Provide a rationale for your response.

5. Determine the mechanism for contract closeout your company would use with the Navy. Provide a rationale for your response.

6. Use at least three (3) quality references Note: Wikipedia and other related websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

Describe the nature of government contracting, including authority, responsibilities, and legal considerations.
Outline and explain the process for developing competitive proposals and source selection.
Explain the process for administering and evaluating contract performance.
Explain the various mechanisms for contract closeout.
Use technology and information resources to research issues in federal acquisition and contract management.

· Write clearly and concisely about federal acquisition and contract management using proper writing mechanics.
