For this assignment, you will create your own original PSA. A public service announcement (PSA) informs us about something important, and the purpose of a PSA is to benefit the public by raising awareness about an issue or topic.

This unit has been about love, so this assignment will involve the same. What issue are you especially passionate about and would love to see change? What issue would you be willing to devote your life to out of great depths of love?

First, choose your topic.

Second, research your topic.

Third, create your PSA slide. This slide needs comprehensive depth and detail! This slide should provide a full stand-alone message.

Fourth, compose the paragraph. This slide contains additional specific detail related to the PSA on slide 1.

Fifth, create the works cited slide for all sources used including image(s).

Your PSA should:

Include a hook that grabs the viewers attention.
Use font and color choices wisely and purposefully. For example, bold font can emphasize key points.
Be in Microsoft PowerPoint or PDF file format and not hand drawn/created. “The Cask of Amontillado” has remained one of the more perplexing of Poe’s stories, and is frequently anthologized. It is told from the point of view of Montresor, who seems to be speaking to someone (an auditor – “You, who so well know the nature of my soul…”) and who includes and omits information from his own story – making him, to most readers, a rather unreliable narrator (a phenomenon generally only associated with the first-person point of view).

What does Montresor include, and more importantly, what does he omit in his recreation of the situation? How does he portray Fortunato? How does he portray himself? What are your thoughts, observations, and questions on “The Cask of Amontillado,” especially in relation to NARRATION and POINT OF VIEW?

In the first paragraph, we learn that Montresor “had borne as best I could…the thousand injuries of Fortunato…but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge.” This is the most direct statement of motive for the murder of Fortunato we get in the story.

What is Montresor’s motive? What does it mean? How do you interpret Montresor’s words here? Is there more to his motive than we see in this statement?

The results found that the overall physical threat rate was 77.6%. 61% of the participants considered leaving the hospital and women were two times more likely to leave after experiencing violence than men.
