I know this one is a bit more time-consuming to get the data b/c you don’t have a Health360 report, you have to track these down yourself for Topic 1 but the rest is via our textbook.

INTRO: Brief 3 sentences introduction about patient, noting where they typical eat (at home, fresh, frozen, canned, etc., restaurants, etc a basic overview). Introduce to patient: foods come from all over the world, in many forms, with many technologies applied.

Topic 1: food items people eat come from a variety of places, produced many different ways.

1) Select 3 food items from the client’s food diary that each come from different food groups (protein, carbs, fruits, vegetables, fats). Find out where they came from, refer to the web sites above as resources. You might struggle with this, but find a reference that shows where the items are grown/raised using the information on the package, label. Do not pick all 3 from one food group, but ensure that there are 3 different food groups from the 5. (fruit, vegetable, protein, carbohydrate, fat) (reference) Ex. Avocado is considered a fat nutritionally, and based on the code on this item, it came from Hawaii., then select another food from a different food group.

2) How are the 3 different foods produced, etc?. (EX, if this is beef, note that this is from cow and look up how beef is mass produced by farmers, etc. or if it’s organic, how is this produced, how long before they are slaughtered? And so on, what does it take to put the food into the grocery store?) Just 1 or 2 key things that are relevant to the production of each of the 3 foods.

3) Explain to the client why our food doesnt really come from the store and share the difficulties in learning a foods origins. (referenced information, this is per the text)

Topic 2: Discuss natural food production vs methods used in food production.

1) Define Natural when it comes to food. (reference the text) Give examples of what you consider to be natural ingredients that the client consumes.

2) Select 2 methods used in food production. Explain how they compare to Natural: how do they enhance food production. (food technologies, hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, biotechnology) (see the text)

3) Discuss 2 pros and 2 cons in using natural foods/ingredients compared to the use of external resources used in food production. (referenced information)

Topic 3:

1) Using the same food information from the 3 foods from your diary in Topic 1, explain 2 requirements to ensure food safety from production to distribution to consumers? Food safety is one of our topics from our text, a great resource.

2) NOTE this is different from #1, what are 2 food safety measures that food-service workers have to address to ensure the food is safe for consumers?

2a) What are reasons for those safety measures? What SPECiFICALLY do they help do? Please share more than food poisoning, etc; be specific. (referenced information)
