You will conduct a 10-minute recorded presentation that will focus on a cultural, diverse, or ethnic group you select from our course topics. In order to give a comprehensive presentation, you must do the following:
Create a narrated PowerPoint/Prezi presentation about your selected group. Your presentation should cover the major points included in our book chapters and exhibit further research of the topic/population. You will upload this assignment twice: once under Assignments and again in the Discussion Forum #8b (along with any accompanying materials, see below).
Include an accompanying handout with relevant information about your selected group and your annotated bibliography (3 references annotated minimum). You can search for proper formatting for an annotated bibliography online or refer to the example annotation in the course resources.
In your presentation, include an experiential activity supporting one or more of the major points of your presentation.
Depending on your program, follow the guidelines below:
If you are a CMHC candidate, include a treatment plan for a common counseling concern relevant to your cultural group with the following:
Detailed problem or concern with cited references
Goals and objectives
Recommended intervention with cited references
Emphasis on what an effective multicultural mental health counselor may do
If you are a school counselor, develop a guidance lesson to help students appreciate this culture. Address common concerns of this group with the following:
Goals and objectives
Detailed outline of content material with cited references
Description of experiential activities
Emphasis on what an effective multicultural school counselor may do
Lastly, in your presentation, include a role-playing situation illustrating an effective multicultural intervention with a client or student from your selected group.
