I am looking for a DRAFT of a Diversity Statement for a Law School Admission to get an idea of a potential topic. I am deciding between topics and would like to see which one is best. This will not be submitted as part of my application, it will be used as a point of reference for a general writing style. The topic will likely be changed.

Topic of Diversity Statement: I have an aunt who was ultimately my inspiration to pursue law. At a time in my life where I was unaware of what career I wanted to pursue, my aunt saw in me all the great qualities it takes to be a great lawyer and suggest I pursue law. My aunt herself is a lawyer, but not in the United States. She is a lawyer in a country where political instability has not allowed her to practice law, but instead seek asylum here in the United States. I was hesitant at first, but I soon discovered that I was more passionate about law than anything else. I began to see my aunt as a mentor and she guided me and provided me with career advice as often as she could. Unfortunately, my aunt was diagnosed with cancer during my senior year of college. Was extremely difficult for me because of her mental and physical deterioration due to chemotherapy/radiation. My aunt also has no kids, she is divorced – although already extremely passionate about law, I am even more so now because I feel the need to carry on her legacy since she has no one to do so. I have many interests in law, immigration being one of them. I live in a state where many immigrants come and seek asylum from the political situations in their country. My aunts situation, along with the situation of many others, further motivates my passion for law. I feel there is a lack of bilingual lawyers capable of understanding the circumstances many people face/why they choose to seek asylum. Being from the country my aunt sought asylum from myself, I know the hardships they face. I am confident combining all of these facts, motivations, etc., I will be a successful lawyer.
