Writing Prompt Fiction Paper ENG1302
1) Select any story that we read this semester in the Norton textbook.
2) In four to six (4-6) full pages, thoroughly analyze the story, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, focusing on two or three (2-3) of the particular elements of fiction (plot, character, setting, theme, style/tone, symbolism, narration/point of view, etc.).
3) The paper should be typed, double-spaced, and in Times New Roman 12pt font.
4) Do NOT simply summarize the story; if you paraphrase the story, do so briefly and concisely. If you include any information about the author, do so briefly and concisely. No more than a paragraph should be dedicated to either of these aspects, and such paragraphs should be very short. Keep in mind that your audience for this paper is me (Dr. Byars), and Im already familiar with the story and with the author.
5) You must use at least two but no more than three secondary sources in this paper. Make certain that the sources you use are scholarly in nature. Websites such as shmoop.com, sparknotes.com, enotes.com, and other such study guide or essay help sources are not acceptable.
6) You must include a works cited page with your paper. The works cited page does not count toward your final page count. The paper, including the works cited page, needs to be in MLA format.
