You can write a ‘good’ (e.g. ‘B’ level) response to the discussion prompts using just your own opinions/experiences to support your response. However, to write an excellent’ (e.g. ‘A’ level) response you will need to also incorporate scholarly material in your response (e.g. our textbook, an additional scholarly text, or a peer reviewed journal article). Unless you are giving a definition, you should be paraphrasing rather than directly quoting.
