Your synopsis will be returned the week after Reading Week. Carefully review your TAs comments
and suggestions before you begin your essay. If your TA made suggestions, ensure you
consider them as you research and write your essay.
2. Read the five research articles to gain scholarly insights on the central issue.
3. Research how stakeholders have approached the central issue. Your research may involve
journalism, government documents, and corporate websites or social media feeds.
4. Write an essay, eight to ten pages in length, that explains the topic and sets our your position.
Defending your position will require sound evidence and a logical argument. Through your
paper, you must make reference to at least five peer-reviewed, scholarly publications (articles
or books) and/or government documents.
Things to consider when conducting your research and drafting your essay:
describe the issue clearly: what is at stake?
who are the stakeholders and what are their positions on the issue?
what criteria should everyone use to make a good decision?
support all of your statements with evidence and/or references
You must conclude with a clear position on the issue. You may agree with one stakeholder.
