In what way does this person exhibit grandiosity and self-importance?
Based on the article, which of the narcissism types most accurately reflects the character of this person?
What are the various cognitive, emotional, and environmental causes of narcissistic personality disorders?

Self, Identity and Consiousness

Choose any two of the philosophers from the articles given . Recap each philosophers main view about consciousness/the self/personal identity. Explain at least one difference between the two philosophers views and state which view you prefer. Then, offer an argument (i.e., evidence) against the view that you reject.

Start with making a careful summary of two of the philosophers What were their main concepts and definitions, what were their distinctions? How did they imagine that the self was different from the brain or different from the mind? Restate their theory and include “direct quotes”, specific references from their work.
Explain carefully how these views compare and contrast. Be sure to identify and explain at least one difference between the philosophers’ views. How do they define a key concept or make a major distinction differently?
State which views you prefer. ( I prefer Descartes view)
Offer an argument against the view that you reject.

DB Response – LG – Research

Please provide a brief response. It is meant to add to the conversation. Thank you.

Technology has advanced tenfold since the 1990s. And with that, so have the methods of conducting research. The vastness of information available on the internet allows for the transfer and receiving of information almost instantaneously. Using the internet decreases the amount of time one would use in collecting information they are searching for. Doing old school research was tough enough, to begin with, but with everything going digital and online, newspapers included, I think you would be hard-pressed to find someone who was willing to conduct extensive research just using hard copies of anything. As an online student, I believe that doors have been opened for so many more to explore educational, and employment options as well as financial options. In educational research, it is important to vet the information as thoroughly as possible, which is why it is best to use peer-reviewed and scholarly information.

Key points that I would make if I were teaching high school students how to research would be: defining a research topic, state sources of the information, choose research methods (books, websites, journals, questionnaires, surveys, databases, etc.), plan your research, collect the data/information, take notes, evaluate the sources of information for validity, know the difference between quantitative and qualitative research and how to use them. Creating mind maps, word trees and diagrams can also be helpful.

At what point did Mr. Garcia need to do something about the potential allegations against Dr. Smith?

Discussion Board Prompt:
For the past 10 years, Juan Garcia has worked as the office manager for Dr. Smith, a local and well-respected osteopath in his community. It was brought to Mr. Garcias attention by one of his coders that Dr. Smith appears to be upcoding with some of his services for TRICARE patients. Mr. Garcia thought this was impossible as Dr. Smith had a high level of integrity and position of authority in the community. The coder has four years of coding experience, and she is new to the office and not familiar with Dr. Smiths billing practices. Mr. Garcia is not a coder, but he understands the coding process required for TRICARE. When his coder brought this to his attention, he decided to have an outside auditor review Dr. Smiths submitted codes.
Six months later, Mr. Garcia had not yet arranged to hire an outside auditor. Much to his surprise, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) arrived at the practice and removed everything from the premisesrecords, computers, and anything that might prove TRICARE or other payer billing fraud. The next week, the coder resigned from her position and moved to another state to start working at another office.
At what point did Mr. Garcia need to do something about the potential allegations against Dr. Smith?
Were the actions of the coder correct or incorrect?

What would you have done in this situation?

How does a soldiers return from War affect a family?

– This video explains the purpose of the Introduction and examines some example paragraphs. You are writing an Argumentative Research Paper, not a 5-paragraph essay, so your Introduction will be 1 – 2 full pages, not a paragraph. In addition, the examples use “I will argue that..”, but you are discouraged from using “I will, I think, I believe, I feel” or any other personal pronouns (me, we, us, our, my, you, your) in your paper.

What is the role of collective bargaining in the education or training industry today?

Collective bargaining shapes the way public schools are organized, financed, staffed, and operated. Understanding collective bargaining in education and its impact on the day-to-day life of schools is critical to designing and implementing reforms that will successfully raise student achievement (Hannaway, Jane, Ed.; Rotherham, Andrew J., Ed, 2006). Despite the tremendous influence of teachers unions, there has not been a significant research-based book examining the role of collective bargaining in education in more than two decades. As a result, there is little basis for a constructive, empirically grounded dialogue about the role of teachers unions in education today (Hannaway, Jane, Ed.; Rotherham, Andrew J., Ed, 2006). With not having any changes or real InSite in the collective bargaining it shows how badly the educational industry needs to make some changes that will be more beneficial for teachers and students.

What are the pros and cons of the collective bargaining process in the education or training industry today?

Collective Bargaining Process

There are basically six steps involved in this process.

The negotiating team is organized to represent the union.
The mutual trust is gained between the employees.
Agreements are discussed between the representatives.
The agreement is proposed to the management.
The process of bargaining is initiated by the union.
Collective agreement is achieved when both the parties reach common grounds (ibuzzle& buzzle inc, 2021).
Pros

Legally based employer-union relationship is provided through such agreements.
The employees who are not the members of the trade union, need not pay service fees, but they can discuss on certain issues with their employer.
The employees have their right to bargain for wages and other work practices.
The employees can take part in the decision-making process of the management.
As the contract is legally bound, the employees and the management are required to adhere to the rules mentioned in the contract.
The authority of the management can be questioned in case the employees are facing injustice.
The employees are prohibited from engaging in activities like striking, stopping and any uncivil methods of showing their frustration.
Before the employees opt for such negotiations, elections will be conducted.
Favoritism and victimization, which is prevalent in workplaces, can be reduced by this process (ibuzzle& buzzle inc, 2021).
Cons
The decisions taken or proposed by the union need not always fall in line with the viewpoints of other individual employees.
The managements freedom in implementing certain ideas which can bring about constructive development for the company, may be hindered by the unnecessary involvement of employees.
The disproportionate effect between the active participants and inactive participants in the bargaining unit is a disadvantage because, the decision being taken should have the entire representation of the employees.
This process promotes bureaucratism.
The progression in decision making is tampered, which may result in bad work culture and inefficiency.
It protects status quo when privatization is involved which inhibits innovation.
Huge amount of money, which is associated with negotiations and agreements is spent by the management.
Dependence on private sector for technological services may be compromised.
Managing this process is not an easy task and it causes unnecessary troubles to managers and supervisors.
Under the disguise of unfairness and injustice, the workers may try to negotiate on high economic benefits which cannot be catered by the management (ibuzzle& buzzle inc, 2021).
What would you add to or change about the approaches and ideas proposed by the class?

Everyone has the same standpoint of the lack of any updates for the educational, and training industry. There are so many new and fresh ideas that can make the educational system even better. Creating positive change in the classroom requires a teacher to strategically combine several important factors, such as designing a classroom layout conducive to learning, recognizing student achievements, and setting reasonable expectations. Studies have shown that creating a positive classroom environment encourages student achievement and teacher satisfaction alike. When a teacher has control over a cooperative, collaborative, and respectful group of students, everyone in the room enjoys a more positive educational experience (St. Marys University, 2021).

What literature gave you the best insight into the current situation? Why? Use citations and references as needed.

There are many places that I can retrieve ton of information about this topic, but the most influential site that I uses was the ibuzzle and the collective bargaining education. Those sites were able to provide more InSite on the topic. It was able to answer a lot of questions and even teach me more things about the topic.
